HEY WAIT!!!!!
before this song gets too popular and everyone starts hating Owl City again, I have something to say!
Good Time, by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen, is extremely disappointing :( I mean seriously, it has the lyrical value of a Rihanna song (and all of you had better follow that link in her name to see what I'm talking about because it took me FOREVER to find that picture again!!). And Ok, maybe its not quite that bad.... at least not the first half of the song, but the second half definitely is.
ANYWAYS, what I'm saying is.... Don't hate Owl City!! I know this song sounds way overplayed before you even finish listening to it the first time, but I want you to just forgive them. Go listen to Maybe I'm Dreaming or Ocean Eyes or All Things Bright And Beautiful (those are all albums by the way, not specific song recommendations, but I can give you those too if you ask!!). The wonderland that is Adam Young's music is waiting to sing you a sweet symphony of joy and wonder!
But I do have to admit, I don't mind listening to the song half as much while watching the music video as when I'm not watching the video. I'm guessing its because I get to look at Adam's wonderful, short haired, clean-shaven, face. He's never looked so gooood!
Introducing a new series that will be appearing on my blog from time to time:
FANGIRLING!
(Basically, this is where I will be talking about all of the really cool things I am obsessing over. Yay!)
So, the first installment of my fan girl series is about:
The Lizzie Bennet Diaries
I love those silly, dramatic Jane Austen period romances, especially Pride and Prejudice. And I knoooooow, P&P has been redone so many times most sane people are probably getting sick of it, but you have NEVER seen a story told like this! The P&P story we all know had been modernized (in a cool way) and told through a vlog started by Lizzie Bennet (with guest appearances from other characters in the story!).
New episodes come out every Monday and Thursday, which is awesome because it means I don't go crazy from anticipation like all of those other stupid series that make me wait a whole week in between episodes (my impatience is the main reason I usually give up on watching a full series).
BUT THERES MORE!!!!
Not only is it super relatable to hear the story like its being told to you by a friend (I mean, I really feel like she is a real modern person), but you can also keep up with the characters through other social media! You can like Jane, Lydia, and Lizzie Bennet, and their friend Charlotte Lu on Facebook see random posts from the characters pop up in your news feed through out the week. AND you can follow most of the character on Twitter (and yes, sometimes they actually respond to tweets):
and I'm pretty sure Jane has one too, I just don't have the link at the moment....
ALSO: Jane is on Pinterest and Look Book, Lydia has a Tumblr and recently started her own vlog, and the list goes on and on.... but what I'm saying is that I've NEVER seen a story told this way before, and I really like it LOVE IT <3 <3 <3 I'm someone who is kinda addicted to social media and the internet, so the fact that I'm surrounded by the story is pretty awesome for me.
The characters are seriously just like real people to me, only instead of running into them aroudn town youu run into in different places on the internet (Which is just like our real friends anyways, right? I mean, I have friends that I follow on Facebook, Twitter (sorta but not really haha...), their blogs, youtube acounts, and Pinterst. This is seriously the best modernization of anything that I've ever seen....... seriously.
anywho..... you should all check it out!!! They are up to episode 30 something now, I think...
....a conversation that you aren't having face-to-face.
There are SOOOO many surefire ways of ending these kinds of conversations:
K KK yep cool [not sending a response] Affirmative :) Alright lol
BUT, if you are a decent human being who realizes that on the other side of those electric-y signals flying through the air is a living breathing human being, you will end your conversations in a way you would when talking to an actual person whose conversation you value. Which means saying goodbye. 'Tis the only acceptable way of ending a conversation.
I feel like this is the perfect metaphor for life. We say we are OK, even if we don't feel like we are OK, but in all actuality, we are still going to be OK. I'm OK, you're OK, and this boy is OK. He just doesn't know it yet :)
and OK looks like a sideways person..... think about it.
I love poems, they can be anything! They can speak volumes in just a few phrases, paint great works of art with just a few words. This isn't the geatest poem I've ever read, but I found it the day before my most recent relationship ended. I was reading this one and thinking "wow, Pablo, once again you understand me so perfectly!" because there is another poem of his that I sort of secretly clung to in the depths of my despair a few months ago (Me Gustas Cuando Callas). Pablo is definitely going on my "List of Guys I Love:" a post I've been working on for a while that will probably show up here within a few weeks. Its full of my mild-moderate-extreme fan girl obsessions. But anyways, here is a love poem, enjoy it if you will. Below are some more poems that I love, more typical of what gets me (but seriously, read the poems at the bottom).
If You Forget Me
I want you to know
one thing.
You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.
Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.
If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.
If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.
But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.
